Monsanto India Wins Global Award

The Organisational Development (OD) Institute, U.S., has given Monsanto India the 1999 OD Award for Distinguished Application, for transforming a company of 40 employees with a trading mindset into a dynamic organisation of 400 employees with a marketing mindset focussed on knowledge, change, performance and deliverables expected of a life sciences company.

The Monsanto Human Resources team used an eight-pronged strategy for continual reinforcement of knowledge and skills, culture building sessions for knitting and new employees into a team, and setting up organisational systems and procedures to meet the challenges of a rapidly expanding and transformed organisation.

The team comprised Ernet Louis, human resources director; Raj Ambedkar, manager, training and OD ; Douglas Breckenridge of The Business Workshop and Monty Miller, a US consultant.
